• The General Agency for
Supply Commodities is an economic agency assigned by
the State to provide the basic commodities required
to cover the needs of a wide base of the limited
income citizens, within the State's General Policy.
• GASC aims at maintaining the food security and
securing the country's needs of the important
strategic commodities, controlling the local markets
and maintaining price and quantity balances for
basic commodities. These balances are achieved
through the activities of GASC's various sectors.
• Purchase of Strategic Commodities whether from
local production or imports from abroad, within the
limits promulgated by the Minister of Trade and
Industry Decree.
• Imports the supply materials and commodities from
abroad in collaboration and agreement with the
Minister of Trade and Industry (Its Central
Department for Balance of Payments and Monetary
Budgets), according to the rules regulating these
imports. GASC also follows the import contracts and
develops the executive programs and time schedules
to make these commodities a the season of their
consumption.
• Stores, transports and distributes the crops and
supply commodities and materials, whether produced
locally or imported from abroad.
• Balanced the supply commodities prices using the
amounts collected from the increase in the prices of
some of them to limit the increase in other
commodities, or to reduce their prices within the
limits issued by a Minister of Trade and Industry
Decrees to define prices.
• Submitting suggestions concerning the regulating
the dealings in the supply and consuming commodities
to the Minister of Trade and Industry. |
